About Me

Captain Brian Bowers, bass fishing and fly fishing instructor, holding a big fish in front of Lake Saint Clair

I'm Captain Brian Bowers and I'd like you to join me fishing on Michigan's beautiful Lake St Clair.

Fishing the lake is my passion, and I've been doing it since I was a child. As an award winning guide, my goal is to provide you with a memorable, exciting and rewarding day on Michigan's 6th Great Lake. I come from a family of fishing guides that spans three generations, all with Lake St Clair as our literal back yard. I've been fortunate to continue this tradition with a combination of hand-me-down local knowledge from great mentors, as well as many hot spots that I've discovered on my own.

My boat

You’ll be joining me on my clean and comfortable 22 foot Pathfinder.  It’s fully rigged for fishing on Lake St Clair.  The Pathfinder sports a live bait well, release well, two coolers, bow mounted trolling motor (not shown in the photo), Power Pole, comfortable seating for four and a T-Top. And I have a Porta Potti that fits in the bow storage compartment if you prefer. It also has a smooth, dry ride and can handle anything Lake St Clair can throw at it.  With the trolling motor removed, the bow also makes for an excellent casting platform when fly fishing for bass.

Our Services

Bass Action Charters offers all-inclusive guided smallmouth bass fishing on Lake St. Clair at competitive rates.  I specialize in catch-and-release fishing using  spinning, bait-casting or fly rods of your choice.  Trips depart from the northern lake shore of Anchor Bay and are 4hrs in duration. All tackle is provided.

Your Guide

I'll guide you to the best smallmouth bass spots of the day, depending on water temperature, wind speed and direction, and time of the year.  Terminal tackle also depends on the time of the year and includes smallmouth favorites - soft plastics and live minnows.  If we are using live bait I rely on the latest Gamakatsu Octopus Circle Hooks to minimize deep hooking.   I also carry an 8 weight St Croix fly rod if you want to test your skills on shallow water smallmouth.

Rates, Reservations

My rate is $350 for a 4 hour trip.

All trips require a $100 deposit which is fully refundable up to 30 days prior to the trip.

The deposit is non-refundable if you cancel less that 30 days before the trip.

Deposits are fully refunded if the trip is cancelled by me (weather for example).

The balance is due on the day of the trip.

Additional Info

Trips are for a maximum of 2 anglers.  An additional 2 passengers may come along at the rate of $50 per person. We'll fish the American side of the lake unless special requests are made to include Canada.  All anglers must have a valid Michigan Fishing License. You should bring sunscreen, layered clothing (including rain gear) depending on the weather forecast, polarized sunglasses if you have them, snacks, and fishing license. Soft soled, non marking shoes are preferred.
